Notice on applications for Consular Legalization via the Chinese Visa Application Service Center

In order to provide better consular legalization application services, as of 8th November 2019, the consular legalization applications of British citizens as well as third-country citizens should be submitted to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC).

The detailed arrangements are as follows:

2. Office hour and fees

Application submission and payment of fees: 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday exc. holidays

Collection: 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday exc. holidays

Fees: The CVASC will charge consular legalization fees on behalf of the Embassy and Consulates. Extra service fees will also be charged. For more information, please visit the official websites of CVASC or inquire via telephone, email or fax.

Processing time: Please allow a minimum of 4 working days after submission for standard consular legalization applications,and a minimum of 3 working days for fast track service where extra fees will be charged.

3. Additional notes

Consular legalization applications filed by Chinese citizens can be submitted directly to the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the U.K. or to the CVASC. If submitted through CVASC, service charge may apply.

The CVASC will be responsible for services including answering inquiries, receiving applications, returning documents and collecting charges for legalization on behalf of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the U.K.. The Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the U.K. are in charge of the processing and approval of the relevant applications. The CVASC will strictly follow the laws of China and the U.K. to ensure the security of personal information and the contents of the documents submitted.
