On September 27, the Consulate General of China in Edinburgh held a reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. About 200 guests from all walks of life in Scotland, including representatives from local Chinese communities attended the Reception.

During his speech, Consul-General Mr. Zhang Biao pointed out that over the past 74 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Chinese people have worked so hard and created two miracles, rapid economic growth and long-term social stability, and are now more confident in pursuing their own development path. The Chinese economy is maintaining sound momentum and the door of opening up will be even wider. The space for friendly exchanges and cooperations between China and Scotland will be fairly broadened.

Mr. Joe Griffin, Director-General for Strategy and External Affairs of Scottish Government, and Councillor Lezley Marion Cameron, the Deputy Lord Provost of Edinburgh, expressed their congratulations and best wishes to China on this occassion  and made positive comments on the friendly exchanges and cooperations between China and Scotland.

All guests enjoyed friendly atmosphere and warm hospitality. The reception lasted two hours and ended in the beautiful melody of "My Motherland and Me".
