Consul General Zhang Biao met with Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone MSP

On 10th May 2023, Mr. Zhang Biao, Chinese Consul General in Edinburgh, met with Alison Johnstone MSP, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament.

Consul General Zhang noted that the China-Scotland relations keep a sound momentum of development. In recent years cooperation between the two sides in various sectors including trade, technology, education, tourism, and culture are promoted steadily and smoothly. Especially, significant achievements in green development cooperation are witnessed. And Chinese  modernization, characterized by green development, provides even more space for future cooperation in new energy, low carbon, etc. China is willing to actively promote communication and exchange between Chinese and Scottish legislatures and give full play to the cross-party group on China, to enhance mutual understanding and inject new impetus into China-Scotland relations.  

Presiding officer Alison Johnstone MSP welcomed Consul General Zhang for taking office in Edinburgh and speaks highly of Scotland-China cooperation in all sectors. She stressed that the Scottish Parliament attaches importance to developing cooperation and communication with China and stands ready to enhance exchanges of legislatures. In particular, the Scottish side would like to carry out practical cooperation with China in green development, technology, education, etc.
