On 10th May 2023, Mr. Zhang Biao, Chinese Consul General in Edinburgh, met with Councillor Robert Aldridge, Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh.

Consul General Zhang noted that Edinburgh keeps friendly exchanges with sister cities Xi’an and Shenzhen for a long time. China’s opening up at a higher level brings more opportunities  for expanding the mutually beneficial cooperation. While attracting numerous Chinese students and tourists, Edinburgh is expected to ensure their safty and convenience. And Edinburgh’s continuous support for the development of local Chinese communities is highly appreciated. The Consulate General stands ready to carry out further cooperation with the City of Edinburgh Council on promoting people-to-people exchanges. 

Councillor Robert Aldridge welcomed Consul General Zhang for taking office in Edinburgh and stressed that Edinburgh values cooperation with China and is ready to actively strengthen friendly communication and practical cooperation with Xi’an and Shenzhen. The City of Edinburgh Council will continue to provide quality service to Chinese students and tourists and keep on supporting the development of local Chinese communities to promote economic and cultural exchanges.
